Since the time of the Industrial Revolution, Americans have developed a love affair with recreational leisure sports. Lawn bowling, badminton, billiards, horseshoes, lawn darts and disc golf have become staples of American backyard barbeques and holiday picnics. Every Wednesday and Friday afternoon from 12:30 until 2:30, players meet at the Bethel Park Community Center to face off against others with similar pickleball experience. In addition to introducing this new sport to residents of the South Hills, the BPRLS also sponsors swimming classes, recreational track meets, and plenty of classes for young athletes, artists, and dancers: painting, baton twirling, ballet, karate, rifle training, soccer, wrestling, and flag football. There is truly something for everyone at the Bethel Park Community Center.
