A Long Day?s Journey Into Fight ? Part 1

The day begins early.? The weigh-ins for Anthony Pipola's fight are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. sharp, and to get to there ? Philadelphia ? from here ? New York City ? in time means at least two hours of navigating rush hour traffic and toll roads.? So we meet at Anthony's coach's place in Queens at 7:00 a.m. and set out, Anthony in the driver's seat and Steve Koepfer, Tyga Maclin and myself along for the ride.? It's Friday.? Ten or so hours after the weigh-ins are the fights ? Matrix Fights, actually, a regional MMA organization maybe one rung below the events you'd see on FOX, Showtime or pay-per-view.? And while the main event features a Bellator veteran and the co-main has a female Strikeforce veteran, somewhere tucked away on the undercard is Anthony's bout.? Anthony is an amateur fighter.? This will be only his second fight.

Nearly every weekend, regardless of whether there's a UFC or Strikeforce or Bellator on television, there's a regional show happening somewhere in the United States.? For Philadelphia there's Matrix Fights, but take a drive down the Atlantic City Expressway and you could catch a Ring of Combat or Cage Fury Fighting Championship, and if you were in California or Florida, it could be a King of the Cage or Art of Fighting.? The common denominator for them all is that each has local fighters, either amateur or pro, on their way up or on their way down, aspiring or expiring.?

Koepfer, a.k.a. "Sambo Steve", runs the school that Anthony trains out of, where Anthony has trained for about a year and a half.? There are others at the school, everyone from weekend warriors to pro fighters, and the weekly team gathering and the sparring it entails has been known to attract a cross-section of former Bellator champs, accomplished amateurs and rising stars.? Tyga, who wrestled at Hunter College, is the school's wrestling coach.? Many amateur fighters have family and friends who come out to see them compete, but the distance between Anthony's neighborhood in Queens and the City of Brotherly Love has made that impossible, so Sambo Steve and Tyga are all he's got.? I'm just here to observe, to see things from the perspective of a fighter.

Snapshot of Anthony: he's not tall, but his broadness offsets his height, giving him the presence of someone strong and physical.? He's a construction worker of sorts, his fulltime job involving working with ConEd to dig up cracked gas mains and repair them, and when he talks of his family ? he's got a wife and three kids ? he beams.? His facial hair leans more towards "why bother shaving with a fight coming up?" than fashion statement.? He didn't sleep much the night before, the accumulating anxiousness making slumber impossible, and that edge of exhaustion and nerves and weight cutting (Anthony is supposed to be 175 pounds; he was 172 when he last checked) is something that lurks close to the surface. ?Every once in while he unwraps a Jolly Rancher candy and pops it into his mouth.

"How you feeling?" I ask him after introducing myself from the backseat.

"Good," he says from behind the wheel of his SUV.

"Why'd you take a fight in Philly?" I ask.

"Because they offered it," he says.

For his first fight, which took place in May, Anthony and Sambo Steve drove seven hours to a suburb of Buffalo for a show called TNT Fights.? Under current law, professional MMA competition is illegal in New York State, but the athletic commission has eased up on amateur mixed martial arts, and TNT Fights was New York's first sanctioned amateur MMA event in over a decade.? Unfortunately, other than competing in local underground shows, if Anthony wants to fight it's easier for him to travel to New Jersey and Pennsylvania ? neither of which require as much driving.?

"Wouldn't you rather be fighting in New York?" I ask.

"[Expletive] yeah," he says.? "I'd rather fight in New York.? I'd rather fight on Queens Boulevard.? I work overnight.? [Expletive] this driving to Philly crap."

But we drive.? And drive.? Tyga, whose day job is at one of the Apple Stores in Manhattan, takes a conference call in the backseat.? Sambo Steve plays old television theme songs on his phone, leaving us to guess which shows they're from.? Anthony talks of Japanese MMA ? apparently passion of his.? The mood never once strays from being light.? No one knows anything about the man Anthony is supposed to fight other than that he's from New Jersey and his name is Michael Roberts, and yet the lack of information doesn't seem to bother them.? Then it's 9:30, and we're stuck in traffic on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.? We're late.

Thankfully, when we get to the venue a half hour later, the weigh-ins are still underway.? Unlike other commissions, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Commission allows for pro/am cards ? fight cards that feature a mix of professional MMA bouts and amateur ones.? The pros slated for tonight's Matrix Fights weighed in the night before.? The amateurs get to do their thing the day of, without fanfare, the commission official telling them to complete some paperwork and step on the scale and that's it.

The venue is a union hall not too far from the heart of the city.? The floor is carpeted, and rows of folding chairs surround the cage that's set up in the middle of a room that could fit somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500 spectators.? While Anthony weighs in and fills out forms, Sambo Steve and Tyga mingle with other coaches.? A few feet away, one of the female fighters on the card is handed a store-bought pregnancy test to take (standard operating procedure for fighters of the fairer sex).? Some mill about nervously.? Others stare off into space and nod their heads to the music blaring in their headphones.

One hundred seventy-two pounds is Anthony's official weight.? ?Andria the matchmaker tells us to come back at 6:00 p.m.? The doors are scheduled to open to the public at 7:00 p.m., and first fight is scheduled for 8:00.? It's only 10:30 a.m. now.

The first order business is to get Anthony some food, so we find him a place that serves breakfast, and eggs, pancakes, oatmeal and freshly-squeezed orange juice are scarfed down.?

The chatter is constant, the talk hovering around Anthony's opponent (no one is completely sure who he was at the weigh-ins ? was he that tall, muscle-bound dude?? Was he the dark-skinned kid with the boxing coach?? Was he even there?).?? It's a funny thing being a fighter's coach on the day of their fight, something akin to having a wife in the beginning stages of child birth.? All the preparation ? whether they're Lamaze breathing techniques or transitions into submissions ? culminates into that one acute moment where the only thing that matters is the thing you're there for, and regardless of whether if it's happening in a delivery room or cage, the focus and singularity of purpose and words of encouragement in the ear are virtually interchangeable.? "You're ready for this," says Sambo Steve, and "Just concentrate on what we worked on," says Tyga, and it's not impossible to imagine those words said to Anthony being said to a woman in the throes of labor.

After our meal we leave Anthony at his car, the idea being that he will nap and rest up.? But that's folly, rest never comes.? Anthony's going to be stepping into the cage in a few hours and stand before someone who wants nothing more than to punch his face in ? how can he sleep?

For lack of nothing better to do, Sambo Steve, Tyga and I are at the movies, and it's there that Anthony finds us killing time.? We watch some art house flick, some tear-jerker that is the farthest thing from violent and motivating and the kind of film that someone with a fight in a few hours would ever want to watch.? Afterwards, we drive over to the venue and sit in the car in the parking lot.

The light mood from hours before has transformed into a tense silence.? Battle is impending.

(End of Part 1.? Tune in tomorrow for Part 2, because, you know, fighting and stuff.)

The economics of Linden and electricity rates - Stabroek News ...

Introduction

In the 2012 Budget Speech, Dr Ashni Singh, Minister of Finance said: ?Currently, in Linden, electricity costs between $5 and $15 per kWh, while on the GPL [Guyana Power and Light] grid customers pay an average of $64 perkWh. The total cost of this electricity subsidy was $2.9 billion last year, the equivalent of 10 per cent of GPL?s total revenues. Starting from 2012, reforms will be initiated to the tariff subsidy with the aim of giving effect to a progressive alignment of the subsidised rates with the national rates that are applicable on the GPL grid.?[Emphasis added].

There are a couple of small things wrong with that statement. Linking the subsidy to the total recorded revenue of GPL is tenuous at best, and misleading under any circumstances.? Linden is not on the GPL grid; it is provided with electricity produced by Bosai Mineral Services for sale to Bosai Minerals Group and to the community through Linden Electricity Company and the Electricity Cooperative Society. Third, a random survey of the electricity bills for the most recent period of five GPL consumers, all staff of Ram & McRae, showed an average of $55 per kWh, high but 14% lower than the charge stated by the Minister.

Nothing progressive

But what is patently misleading is that part of the Minister?s statement that speaks of a progressive alignment starting from 2012. Here are the increases which customers were being asked to pay before the tragic deaths which led to the rates being put on hold.

Source: Linden Electricity Company Inc circular

Anyone consuming 75 kWh or more of electricity will face an increase in their bill of at least 300%. In my group of five, the average consumption is 157 kWh. The increase applicable to them would be over 600% making it hard to find any word but deception to describe the Minister?s clever use of words.

This government which has a good sense of history has had twenty years to address the subsidised tariffs in Linden. Assuming a $5 per kWh in 1992, it would have required a semi-annual increase of roughly 6% to bring the tariff up to the same level as GPL. With fatal consequences, the government has attempted to do in one year what it did not do in 20 years.

Profiting from the subsidy

But the Minister is not the only person producing misleading information. Bosai Minerals Services Inc released recently a document described as an ?Audited Operation report? showing that the company made a profit of US$233,000 in 2010. The public records however show that the company made a profit (before tax) of G$76,342,000, the US Dollar equivalent of $380,000. Since the company?s business is the operation of a power plant to provide electricity to its (group) bauxite operations and the community, it must explain this difference and whether it is permitted under the agreement with the Government of Guyana to make a profit from the subsidy.

There are other concerns about the electricity operations. The information the electricity company has provided on fuel costs needs explanation. Invoices for diesel imported by its parent company (Bosai Minerals) from the State Oil Company of Suriname show a lower cost of fuel than that reflected in the company?s income statement. Since its financial statements do not suggest that the company buys diesel from the parent company, the question is why does it not pay the same price from the same supplier as its parent.

A second concern has to do with the agreement signed with the government for the supply of electricity, a regulated service which would otherwise come under the Public Utilities Commission. The government has excluded Bosai from any regulatory obligation hence its freedom to charge rates that should have been fixed on a cost recovery basis. It seems incontrovertible that that would be the more appropriate basis since the supply serves the group and in some cases its service is specific to the group. For example, any plant capacity for the operation of the dust collector cannot be shared with the community charge while on the remaining plant, the pricing policy should be based on the marginal cost of providing electricity to the community.

Paranoia

A third concern I have touches on the government?s paranoia that if it applies the country?s laws to Bosai, the company will pull out. Perhaps that is the message ? or threat ? the company communicates to the government in private. We should not fall for that. Bosai and China are here not to develop Guyana but to guarantee access to raw materials. They need Guyana as much as Guyana needs foreign investment. Our failure to recognise that allows investors and Bosai in particular to exploit the country. Let us look at Bosai?s Income Statement for the years 2008-2010.

Source: Audited financial statements

Under the agreement with the government the company was exempted from the payment of property tax and royalty for the five years to December 8, 2009. The notes to the 2010 financial statements state that the company has sought a five year extension, but went on to state that no royalty was payable on sales during the period December 9, 2009 to December 31, 2010 and that no property tax provision to December 31, 2010 had been made.

Order 8 of 2005 indicates that the company is subject to royalty at the rate of 1.5% but to a zero rate for the first five years. I searched the Laws of Guyana but could only find statutory authority for a 3% rate and first saw a reference to 1.5% in a 1997 Mining Policy and Fiscal Regime by Prime Minister Samuel Hinds. Mr Hinds? paper did not even mention the Bauxite (Production Levy) Act 1974 which was introduced to ensure that the country gets a fair share of the revenues from its natural non-renewable resources.

Mrs Da Silva and Mr Hinds

The Hansard of the debate on the Production Levy Act in the National Assembly of September 25, 1974 records then leading member of the United Force as saying: ?These big multi-national corporations seem to think that because they are huge multi-million concerns, that because they are big and we are small and we need the revenue from our bauxite so badly for the economy of our country, that they should have the upper hand and be allowed to dictate [to us]. That time has passed.?? If you can hear me, Mrs Da Silva, that time has returned.

Those whom her party now supports in the National Assembly are prepared to waive royalties and to ignore the Bauxite (Production Levy) Act for a hugely profitable company which was on target to recover its original investment in less than five years. Prime Minister Sam Hinds, failing to appreciate the difference between royalties and corporation tax, has ensured that under Order 8 of 1995, the company will pay only the greater of royalty and corporation tax. In other words, if the corporation tax payable exceeds the amount payable as royalty, no royalty will be payable.

Let us put that into context. In the three years 2008 to 2010, the bauxite companies exported some 4,659,317 tonnes of bauxite with an exchange value of US$325.2 M. For this, the country received no royalties.

And if 2010 was a good year, 2011 was a great one. Bauxite production shot up in 2011 by 68%, from 1,082,512 tonnes to 1,818,399 tonnes. If there was no technical or economic case for a royalty waiver in 2005, there can be no financial case for an extension of that waiver in 2011.

And there is one other point which may have escaped the Government of Guyana. Without a Double Taxation Treaty between Guyana and China the income earned in Guyana would under normal tax rules, be subject to tax in China. In other words, income we do not tax is effectively contributing to the Treasury of China. If only we are courageous enough to negotiate a fair deal with Bosai, and apply Guyana?s tax laws including the anti-transfer pricing provisions as necessary, the country will be better off.

Conclusion

And let us end today?s column on this note. Guyana is a 30% shareholder in Bosai. So that when Bosai paid one billion dollars in dividends in 2010, Guyana received $440 million of that in revenues, $300 million in dividends paid to NICIL and $140 million paid to the Guyana Revenue Authority as withholding tax. And that is on top of the $708 million received from corporate taxation! If only we did not waive all those other taxes!

Clearly Region Ten is not a burden on, but rather a contributor to the state.

Next week I will identify some specific solutions to the tariff question.

What You Don't Know About Italian Food - Free Link Directory

There is plenty of choice to choose from when having a starter and main course. Choosing a combination of a two or three course meal adds plenty of flavour to your meal. For example the tricore a florentina pizza and a chocolate dessert sounds a good choice on your visit to Italian restaurant Gants Hill.

The pizzas appear in different styles and toppings. The customers view of choice with pizzas rather than standard ones gives them something they would prefer to order. During your visit to this restaurant customers can listen to nice easy going music and have a pleasurable meal at same time.

In addition to to having either a starter or main course many dishes served with classic olive oil. Majority of Italian meals serve virgin olive oil and many flavours get released. Favourable sauces like tomato or pesto are also used on other main meals.

Keep a watch on promotional offers at this Italian restaurant in Gants Hill. Being a previous dinner I like to take privilege of next upcoming promotional offers. We certainly enjoyed the meal and especially at 20% discount over the queens jubilee.

Most people are satisfied with a good wine selection in this restaurant. It was difficult to know each wine brand on the menu, however their quality was excellent. A meal in this restaurant can still be liked even more with a non alcoholic beverages.

To comment further on my experience there is room for future visits to this restaurant. It is a fact that their website can speak for itself as well as the visit made. The price is adequately fair and without exaggeration they provide a gold star levels of service.

Many dinners travel to this restaurant from outside the North East London region. This denotes the popularity of this Italian restaurant is in Gants Hill. En route to visitors going to bars and clubs in the area the restaurants attracts a wide audience.

We will more than likely be on the lookout for the next offer available. There is a promotional offer present over the Olympics period. My advice is to use one of these promotional offers and not miss out on what this restaurant has in store.

Jealousy In Relationships - Pick Up Women

Pick up lines, A diplomatic custom to attract a statuesque girl is to impress her to appeal to you

Is jealousy a sin? Between women and men, who do you really think are more jealous in a relationship? According to me, jealousy is a relationship disorder. Actually it?s a deadly monster which has messed up many relationships. Do you agree with me that this is a deadly monster which has

ruined many relationships?

A couple of months back, Jack came to me. He was afraid that his spouse was having an affair with another man. According to Jack they had been having issues in their love relationship. Due to these issues, his wife decided to spend more and more time outside their home, definitely with pals as a way of avoiding more problems with Jack.

Jack did not believe that all the time she was out was spent with her friends. This made Jack to be calling her now and then to inquire if she was still with her friends and exactly where they were. On occasions Jack would cruise around to confirm the truth if she was actually with her friends.

As soon as his wife Janet came back home, Jack would give a relentless grilling. Since Janet knew that she wasn?t cheating on him, she would shut him with the truth where she had been all of the time. These occurrences continued for sometime but it reached to a point where their communication dried up. A relationship without communication is as well as dead; therefore Jack?s relationship with Janet seemed to be over.

Since then, Jack seemed to be dreadful, sad and had signs of an individual suffering from some kind of stress. He no longer took care of himself and did not hang out with pals. This made his friends to wonder what was happening to him.

It is being jealous of his wife that made him look this way. Jealousy was driving them away from one another. Jack lacked the trust for his wife and this did not only insult his spouse but it also eroded anything good they ever had together.

Now Jack desperately wants to get rid of this bad habit of being jealous. He is very much willing to reconcile with Janet and to trust her always. He has learned his lesson on how to build a healthy relationship with his wife. He never thought that maybe his wife was trying to find out how to plan a surprise birthday party.

Today I assure you that no love relationship will last if a partner(s) is jealous. If you are jealous in your relationship, then you?ll stand to lose your dignity, destroy your self-esteem and of all drive your girlfriend or boyfriend away from you.

Nothing kills a marriage or ruins a relationship quicker than jealousy between partners. This monster literally creates anger, fear, hatred, anger, unnecessary anxiety and loneliness between partners.

To be honest, nobody wants to be in relationship with somebody who is jealous. Therefore, how do you avoid being jealous in your relationship? Below are some tips.

1.) Always talk with your partner. Why am I even telling you this? You see when communication breaks down between partners it means that something has changed. Your partner will start to get anxious. He/she may tend to think that you are hiding something. This leads to mistrust and at last jealousy will find room in your relationship.

2.) In your relationship you should not feel insecure. Partners who feel insecure eventually become jealous. Stop those misleading feelings of fears and paranoia.

3.) You should always trust your partner in order to get rid of jealousy or to avoid it in your relationship.

Healthy Relationships 101: Marriage And Babies

?As I struggled to wake up from the anesthesia, I sensed my husband standing close by.? He was very excited and kept saying something, but back I went into dreamland as the medication continued to control me.? Slowly, I became more aware, more awake as I heard my dear husband say, "We had twins!"? "No", I replied, "it was the lady over there who had twins".? Still groggy and unsure of whether I was awake or dreaming, I heard him say those same words again.? "We had twins!"? As my eyes gradually began to focus, I became aware that my C-section was finished and that I was now in the recovery room.? My hubby's face was lit up with a big smile; though there appeared to be some uncertainty on it as well.? "Twins" I said aloud.? "How did we have twins?"? ?At each of our OB appointments, the doctor always only heard 1 heartbeat within my womb.? ?There had never been a need to have an ultrasound done.? ?Somehow, though, through the grace of God, we now had our busy 2 year old son and 2 newborn babies instead of just the one newborn baby which we were expecting.

The first year of our twin sons lives was physically exhausting.? Thoughts went through my mind:? " Am I suppose to find some time for my marriage?? Am I suppose to have even an ounce of energy left to converse with my hubby for more than 5 minutes?"? "How can we maintain this relationship when all my time and energy is being zapped by our active 2 year old and his younger twin brothers?"

Have you ever wondered how it might be possible to carve out time for your marriage?? Do you think about creative ways to stay in touch with your spouse?? Research studies continuously conclude that the marriage relationship is a vital component of the family cohesiveness and harmony.? The small, everyday caring and gentle gestures, words and actions contribute to the intimacy and closer relationship between a husband and wife.? Sharing a smile with your spouse, holding your exhausted spouse lovingly in your arms and praying for your spouse are the building blocks of a strong, stable and committed relationship.

The ultimate goal of a married relationship is to share the joys and the sorrows with that special person in your life.? The roller coaster ride of family life has various twists, hairpin turns, unexpected acceleration and a exhilarating feeling when one returns to home - to the special place of warmth and love.? Home is where one can give and receive love unconditionally.? Home is where we are nurtured and nourished and where? we nurture and nourish others.? Home is where one belongs; being within the heart of the family, within its protected environment and within its safe and secure boundaries.? As you are creating your home, what atmosphere and ambiance do you want it to have?? What are you doing so that a loving and stable home is the reality for your spouse and for your children?

For me, singing was a part of creating our loving and stable home.? Singing brought joy, energy and inspiration to our family's life.? Telling stories "from my head" was another aspect of my home's design:? putting my child into a story, having a story with a message, a moral and a value within it, or telling a story from my own childhood memories brought smiles, questions and a vivid imagination to our children.? Most valuable to me, though, was the importance of inviting God into the many aspects of our lives.? He created not only the heavens and the earth but He also gave us the gift of our children.?? Along the incredible journey of raising our children, my hubby and I continuously asked Him to join us for every step along the path of parenthood.

As you reflect on finding time for your marriage and creating a loving, stable home for your children, remember that there are 8 specific traits that help couples to go the distance.? These 8 traits facilitate the lifelong journey of ?peaks and valleys within a special, intimate relationship.? Take the time to analyze the following traits:

*??????? Ability to change and adapt to new situations. People change, relationships change- having flexibility helps the relationship stay strong.

*???????? Commitment and permanence. Commitment to the marriage/relationship?as well as to each other, is an expectation that the relationship will endure and that divorce/separation is not an option.

????????? Trust.?Expectation of fidelity in all areas, being absolutely faithful to one another.

*????? An awareness that not every difference or difficulty can be resolved.

?* ????? Balance of dependencies.? Mutual dependence in the relationship that does not compromise one's sense of individuality.

????? * ? Good communication skills.? Being able to share thoughts and feelings, discuss problems together and listen to the other person's point of view, and being able to talk problems out.

*???? A sharing of some basic values, beliefs and interests.

??????? Social support structures.? Involvement and participation with one's family and with the community's support systems.? (Parker, 2001)

The big surprise of having twins has doubled our joys and sorrows.? Throughout the years of diapers, potty training, kindergarten etc, we are continuously also focusing time and energy on our marriage.? Our children have reaped the rewards of the hard work that we invested in our marriage.? They are a part of a strong, stable and committed family which will help each of them to go the distance in their own lives.? Invest in your children's future by finding time and energy to treasure your marriage!

nonvoting denebola: News and Society -Crime News Blog: Keeping ...

ByAndrew Keel

Most people tend to think of jail as a place that criminals are put so that society as a whole will be safe. We want to think that every person who is put in the county jail is guilty of some kind of crime. What so many of us lose sight of is that when you have a large number of people living in cramped quarters, there are bound to be problems. Since the average county jail is currently over crowded or near its capacity to house prisoners, more and more concerns about inmate safety are being raised.

One of the reasons that some people are becoming more vocal about the subject of county jail safety is because some of the inmates have serious mental illnesses. Some of the inmates in the county jail could suffer from psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar, as well as minor cognitive disabilities. Not only are people concerned about what will happen to the individuals who are suffering from the metal illnesses when they are placed in custody, but there is serious concern about how having these individuals in the jail could compromise the safety other individuals that are in full control of their mental state.

The truth is that in some situations it might actually be better for everyone if individuals who are struggling with illnesses like schizophrenia and bipolar to be placed in a state prison that has better funding resources and adequately trained professionals. The average county jail simply doesn't have the space or the man power to give these inmates the care and attention that they need. The larger prisons have psychologists who can regularly see the prisoners and gauge their state of mind. There will also be guards who are going to be specifically educated to keep an eye on the prisoners and proactively handle situations before they have a chance to get out of hand.

If someone you know has a mental illness and has recently been incarcerated in the county jail, it is going to be up to you to keep an eye on them. Inmate locators will make it possible for you to gather all of the information you need about where they are, their arrest, bail, and what their visitation schedule is going to be. Once you have confirmed the location of the county jail where they're incarcerated, you need to contact the jail and alert them to the situation including treatment plans, medications and, and the names of any healthcare providers that can be contacted to procure copies of medical records. The sooner everyone knows about the inmates mental issues, the sooner they can take the steps to make sure that everyone is safe.

Another way to support an inmate is simply by staying in touch. If you find it stressful to write a letter and mail it by hand, you can email an inmate from the web or your smartphone.

If you join their Julep Maven Club, you pay only $19 for $40 worth of Nail Vernis and their excellent Pedi Creme, delivered to your house every month. if you've bought any decent nail polish in the past year, you know $19 for TWO polishes is a great buy! julep classic kit

i was sent a Maven style box to review, consisting of their Pedi Creme and 2 nail vernis, in my style colors.

The Pedi Creme? AMAZING! It not only has a yummy cucumber smell, it exfoliates with alpha hydroxy acids, it hydrates with Shea butter and coconut oil. Plus it has vitamin E. After only 2 nightly uses, i could see noticable results! And I've been having problems with my cuticles, so I cheated and put some on them too. Guess what? They softened right on up and were easy to handle. YEAH!

rose pedicureBut then you open the Nail Vernis (color) and are even MORE astounded! they have such a depth to them, that you really only need ONE coat! AND I have never had polish dry SO quickly! Seriously 5 minutes, one coat and they are ready to go DRY (I use a quick dry base, and this is without a top coat)! I was sent Rose and

Here is what?Rose (a?watermelon red creme) looked like in the quickest pedicure ever- aka did nails, put on shoes and ran out door to church! (So please excuse the slight smudge on the big nail). I love that the color works with my skin tone perfectly, but is a shade I normally would not wear!

robin manicureBut my favorite was the other shade I was sent: Robin!?But then I've been wearing a light turquoise green, similar to their Piper color, ?all Summer, so it stands to reason, as this is a darker shade. Check it out (on right)! It looks good with my skin tone and really makes my short nails pop (no idea WHY I keep breaking them lately, but I can't seem to grow them out any more than what they are now).

Now for the update on how well they wear. I had a picture of what my nails looked like, after the first manicure, after 5 days, but I hadn't sent them to my computer, prior to my phone getting ran over (yeah I know, AFTER I did the cell phone post, Murphy's Law right? LOL), so you're just gonna have to trust me when i say they held up pretty well without any top coat, only chipping on the end edges. in fact, it looked like I had a French manicure, as they chipped perfectly across the nail line. It was very weird!

I love that when you go to their Nail Vernis Products on their website, you can select color choices by skin tone, season, collection, as seen magazines/on tv and by selecting a color on their rainbow bar (which then gives you all available colors in that hue)! SO simple!?
